Director's Notes
What a joy to bring this production of "Curtains" to the Rogers
City Community Theatre's stage. This new musical won 7 Tony awards
when it opened on Broadway in 2007, and this is the first time it
has ever been produced anywhere in the state of Michigan.
And what a joy to have worked with this wonderful, dedicated,
hard-working cast. We have so many talented people in our community
and it is great to see them shine. I am proud of every one of them.
I am especially grateful for the awesome choreography of Heather
Nordenbrock, the artistic music direction of Lisa Rhea, the
incredible versatility of our pianist Suelyn Bartz, and the amazing
costume design (and assistant director skills) of Val Schalk. This
production would not have been possible without them.
This past year, I gave up "ownership" of the Rogers City
Community Theatre. We are now a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit
organization, run by an independent Board of Directors, of which I
am one of nine members. In a larger sense, the Rogers City Community
Theater is "'owned" by the community, which supports our efforts by
participating in our productions (both on stage and behind the
scenes), by attending our show, and by providing financial support
as program sponsors and other donations of cash, goods, and
services. All donations now qualify as tax deductions.
Thanks to all of you for coming and for your support of live
theatre in Presque Isle County. "Enjoy the show!" |
